New Members Welcome: Pathway to Membership at the Collingwood Curling Club

The Collingwood Curling Club is a welcoming, inclusive and very active curling club. There are eighteen social leagues, a Men’s and Women’s Competitive league, a Jitney Program (drop-in) and several community-oriented programs. Many of our leagues are full of current members, but there are many ways to participate in your first year..

 

Experienced Curlers

If you an experienced curler moving from another curling club you are welcome to join leagues where there is availability. Also, you can

· Register for Jitney curling and attend any session(s) that fits your schedule (arrive 30 mins in advance).

· Register as a spare for any league you are interested in. Spares often receive lots of requests.

· Add yourself to the wait list for a league by contacting the registrar (registrar@collingwoodculringclub.ca). Several leagues need players in the second and third draws.

· Sign up for bonspiels

· Sign up for in house development clinics 

 

New Curlers

If you are new to curling it is highly recommended that you attend our clinics in September.

Intro to Curl for those that just want to a brief introduction to the game before deciding if its something to pursue.

Learn to Curl  for those that are committed and are ready for join the club. Some instruction is required before you can play in our leagues.  You are also welcome to attend if it’s been a long time since you played.

If the dates for Learn to Curl are impossible for you, please contact development@collingwoodcurlingclub.ca to arrange lessons after you have joined the club.

After you have attended Learn to Curl, your options are

· Register for Jitney curling and attend any session that fits your schedule (arrive 30 mins in advance). The league manager will ask you which position you want to play, and new players usually start as Lead.

· Once you think you are ready, join the spare list for leagues that fit your schedule. Typically leagues that are individual entry are more social and appropriate for newer curlers

· Sign up for in house development clinics

 

By your second year you will have made many friends and likely decided which leagues you will suit you. You will be a returning member in your second year and have an equal opportunity with all other returning members to get into the leagues you choose.
